Snow comes just in time for Thanksgiving skiing
Ski resorts rejoice in return of wintry weather

KEYSTONE (KWGN) — "This snow came at the perfect time," said Christian Knapp, the Director of Marketing at Keystone Resort.

It may have only been four inches, but ski resorts like Keystone will take what they can get, especially with the holiday weekend coming up.

Christian added, "Some years in Colorado, Thanksgiving can be tough from a natural snow perspective. This one's been a little tougher than most."

Thousands will hit the slopes at resorts across Colorado this Thanksgiving. Kayla Battistelli and her five-year-old son Jack picked this day.

I asked Jack what was he liked most about skiing, he said, "Going fast."

Kayla added, "Kids are out of school this week and we have the four day weekend, so we thought it'd be a good time to come out."

The first couple of runs always take some getting used to. Kayla hopes the lack of snow won't.

"More runs open, more lifts open, I'm ready for the real season," said Kayla.

The fresh snow is welcome, but resorts like Keystone are stoked that it's going to stay cold.

Christian said, "The cold temperatures make a huge difference. Even as you get temperatures up near the freezing mark, the quality of snow you put out there isn't as good. The colder the better for us."

Keystone has the largest and most sophisticated snow making system in Colorado. At the rate this ski season has been going, they won't be the only ones making more snow than they get from Mother Nature.
